Day 3

What's up?
What a day three. I thoroughly enjoyed today. I woke up today and showered and went down into the local city. I found out that there nothing was opening until noon, so I came back to my place and downloaded some pictures and started to unpack and stuff, since I still hadn't done that. I ended up going to my first pub and getting a local hamburger. It seems that hamburgers are one of the local maindishes here at pubs. That and a Sprite. It was good. I took a picture of it and the place I went. I plan on going to a different place every day.

I came back to my room and took a little bit of a nap. I was still a little jet lagged. I got up at 1:45 PM after laying down around 1:15 and went out to meet my people at the Scavenger Hunt! I barely made it on time, giving myself 45 minutes to get there where I should have given myself an hour or so since it was relatively busy. Talk about exciting and awesome, though. I found the first group of people that I connected with. I had a group of five. Myself, a guy named Johnny from California, a girl whose name and location I can't remember, and then a guy from China and a girl named Beatrice from Romania who also lives on my floor in my room. So that's good. We went all around the city on a scavenger hutnt, from the original Ripley's Believe or Not to looking at Big Ben again, to various monuments, to the awesome British Museum (natural history one). I took a picture of my group so that will be online on my facebook page. There was a particular guy Johnny who was really into it. We got lost in China town, went for four hours, didn't take a break, talked with local British people, and had a really good time with each other. After we were done we made our way to a local pub where everyone was enjoying themselves who had completed the scavenger hunt. Watched some of the fellow peers get drunk, and then my particular group went on to eat in the same China town that we got lost in the first place looking for a clue. We ate at the same place our clue was (the clue was to give the price of the Sesame Chicken at the Chinese Pagoda Resuarant.). And then I travelled back with Beatrice to Furnival House after stoppingat the local Tesco Grocery Store where she picked up some random odds and ends and I picked up breakfast for the next week in Granola Bars. It's been interesting watching people whose native language is not English, because sometimes you can help them with the word that they are looking for, and that's always nice and neat and a good feeling. But while it may not seem like much, it was a great day and I did a lot. I'm already feeling a billion times better about being in this foreign city without a single I knew prior to today than I was yesterday.

I'm out. Waking up early tomorrow at it's 11:30 here.

:-)
